West Long Branch

Nestled between Long Branch and Eatontown, West Long Branch is a small and intimate community.  Major redevelopments to the Long Branch area have brought popular attractions to the area like the shopping/dining and entertainment mall, Pier Village, an ocean-front boardwalk attraction.

West Long Branch is home to approximately 8,097 people, occupying 2,448 households.  65% are married couples living together and 35% of those households have children living with them, all under the age of 18.  The median income for a family was $80,127. The median age in West Long Branch is 34.

West Long Branch shares a border with Long Branch which continues to redevelop and prosper.  Redevelopment projects are underway to transform the lower Broadway area of Long Branch into an eclectic Arts District.  One of the first projects in the new art district is the Shore Institute for Contemporary Art on Broadway and Third Avenue.

West Long Branch is within minutes to the sandy shores and boardwalks of Long Branch and many other Jersey Shore beach towns.  The Jersey Shore has some of New Jersey’s most sought-after restaurants like McCloone’s Riverside and Sawa Japanese Steakhouse at Pier Village.  The miles of beach and boardwalk make for great outdoor activities like running, biking and roller blading.

The West Long Branch school district serves students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.  Schools in the district are Betty McElmon Elementary School, serving kindergarten through 3rd grade; and Frank Antonides School, for students in grades 4 – 8.  Students in grades 9 – 12 attend Shore Regional High School, a regional high school that serves students of Monmouth Beach, Sea Bright, Oceanport and West Long Branch.

A highlight of West Long Branch is Monmouth University, a four-year private university on a 155-acre campus established in 1933.  It currently has 5,600 students and 232 full-time faculties.  The campus is notable for Wilson Hall, a National Historic Landmark that was used in the 1982 film Annie.
